SEN Support Worker / PA in Birmingham. A great Weekend opportunity available for a SEN Support Worker / PA to assist the lovely Emily, a sociable, bright and engaging 11-year-old with a physical disability.  Up to £16.50 Gross per Hour

Driver Essential? Yes, essential. WAV (automatic drive for use on duty)
Essential: Childcare experience. This role is open to *Female applicants only
Desirable: Experience supporting a young person with cerebral palsy and communication needs

Days & Hours: Alternate Friday 3.30pm to 9.30pm, Saturday and Sunday: 7.30am to 9.30am AND 3.30pm to 9.30pm

About this client/child: Our fabulous client Emily is 11 years old, lives at home with her Mum, Dad and 3-year-old brother. Emily loves music; if you can sing or play an instrument, you will be putting on regular performances! Other hobbies include playing Mario Kart, visiting museums, socialising with her peers, and swimming. Emily has dyskinetic tetra-paretic cerebral palsy. She is a wheelchair user but can high knee crawl. She presents with dysarthria (a speech disorder), however, can communicate very well verbally. Emily can at times present with some behaviours that may challenge and can struggle in busy environments, however, with support she is working on and overcoming these challenges. Emily is very excited to be transitioning to a new SEN School and is seeking a SEN Support Worker / PA to assist her alternate weekends.

Overview of role: This role is all about promoting Emily’s independence, enabling, facilitating and advocating whilst ensuring she receives the highest standard of care and support. Emily requires support with all her ADLs, self-help skills and assistance in accessing leisure and social activities, some therapy and rehabilitation and supporting Emily to keep up with her friends and most importantly having fun and enjoying the weekend! This role will require aspects of manual handling, regular driving whilst on shift, and researching new activities to expand Emily’s list of hobbies and interests. Each day will be different depending on what activities Emily and her family have planned.

Who this job would suit: This will be a fantastic role for a *female student, therapy/teaching assistant, or an experienced Support Worker seeking additional hours. Someone with a real passion for supporting young people to reach their full potential. You will be enthusiastic, positive, and flexible; we are ideally looking for a SEN Support Worker / PA that can provide additional hours cover during school holidays, although it is not essential.
