Job Description:

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at an SEMH Primary School in Margate. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing valuable support to our students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, promoting their academic and social development.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that encourages positive behavior and emotional well-being.
  • Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behavior effectively.
  • Support students in developing essential life skills, self-esteem, and confidence.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to assess student progress and adapt support strategies as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and well-being.
  • Promote a safe and caring school environment that upholds the values of respect and empathy.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is highly desirable but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for helping students with SEMH challenges thrive academically and emotionally.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn and implement new strategies.
  • Basic knowledge of SEMH principles and strategies (training will be provided).
  • A willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.
