We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Science Technician to join one of our partner schools in the Sunderland area. As a key member of the Science department, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical lessons and ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory and classes.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, set up, and maintain equipment, tools, and materials for science lessons, ensuring they are safe, functional and readily available.
- Assist teaching staff in delivering practical lessons, providing technical advice and guidance to students.
- Support students in using various equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Manage stock levels of materials and equipment, ensuring orders are placed in a timley manner to maintain sufficient supplies.
- Maintain a safe and organised working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations and promoting good practices among students and staff.
- Support students during project work, providing guidance on design concepts, materials, and construction techniques.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to contribute to the development and improvement of the science curriculum.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field may be required, but some positions may only require an associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, techniques, and safety protocols.
