Joseph Norton Academy in Huddersfield is a special academy educating children and young people with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties across Kirklees. The school prides itself on its use of nurture, social pedagogy and its focus on preparation for adulthood.

THE ROLE

As an Inclusion Support Worker at this school in Huddersfield, you will offer more than classroom support.  You will make connections, develop relationships and help our pupils navigate the path to a better future.  This  includes:

  • Getting the classroom ready for lessons
  • Listening to children read
  • Helping those who need extra support
  • Preparing resources
  • Completing records
  • Taking the lead on specific activities and sessions
  • Providing learning routines at school, in the community and in the family home

Requirements

THE CANDIDATE

  • Experience in a school or similar setting 
  • IDEALLY experience working with children/ young people with SEN / SEMH needs
  • Educated with GCSE Maths and English or equivalent OR willingness to undertake
  • Car driver with access to own vehicle OR willingness to learn
