Construction Multi Skills Tutor
To plan, prepare and teach courses for learners within the MIT programme of work, as agreed with senior management. To carry out the administrative tasks required in each programme area. To provide appropriate learner feedback and support. To provide educational advice and information where necessary, and to create an appropriate and welcoming atmosphere for learners.
Construction Multi Skills Tutor Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Plan deliver and report on your course, using methods and materials appropriate to the learner group and course content.
Prepare/adapt appropriate teaching materials.
Identify/assess the needs of learners and if necessary adapt course content and delivery style to meet these needs. Deal appropriately with individual learner support needs, using the appropriate forms and recording the required evidence for funding purposes.
Discuss Learning Outcomes or moderation requirements with learners as the course proceeds.
Comply with the MIT policies on Equality and Diversity and Prevent so that all learners are treated with respect and dignity in an environment in which a diversity of backgrounds and experience is valued. Deal with any harassment or discrimination issues that arise.
Evaluate the effectiveness of learning. Assess learners’ work where appropriate. Keep records of learners progress and ensure learners are given feedback on their progress within regular reviews.
Offer advice on further learning and progression opportunities to learners as required.
Ensure that all required paperwork, including learning outcomes forms, course registers and weekly reviews are completed and communicated to the relevant office, in a timely manner.(It is vital for funding purposes that these documents are received promptly).
Undertake other duties as directed by line managers commensurate with the post.

- Willingness to work in a flexible way including evenings on occasion as required at various location if required.
- To take part in team meetings, events and training as necessary.
- To contribute to the development and implementation of the overall ethos/work/aims of MIT Skills.

Skills and Abilities:
- Be able to work in a collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment
- The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues.
- The ability to work collaboratively with team members to deliver improved outcomes.
- The ability to work to deadlines in a pressurised and sensitive area of work, being aware of MIT Skills’ confidentiality and information sharing protocols.
- The ability to apply the principles of MIT Skills’ safeguarding, Prevent and equality and diversity agendas.
- The ability to be highly organised, paying close attention to detail.
- Be able to enjoy and be able to work as part of a small team.
- Have a flexible approach to work.
- Be emotionally resilient and be able to work in a challenging environment.
- Work in an organisation that is undergoing change due to development and growth.
Experience:
- Tutoring experience in a government funded environment (desirable)
- Relevant professional competency to deliver the course
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of pre apprenticeship programmes/ apprenticeship programmes and how delivery models apply.
- User of Microsoft packages.
- Ability to input accurate data of the Management system and e-portfolio systems
