A helping hand from you. A headstart for them.
As a Teaching Assistant at Eagle House School, Mitcham you’ll have a key role to play in the development of our pupils.
We want all our young people to have the best chance of success in life, and the right support in the classroom can really make an enormous difference. The young people in our schools have social, emotional, mental health and complex learning needs that call for extra dedication. As a Teaching Assistant, you have to be understanding and committed. Help them progress and you’ll have every opportunity to do the same with your career.
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll be working directly with the young people in the classroom every day. You’ll help them learn, monitor their work and help raise their self-esteem. As your skills are well developed, you will have additional duties, such as helping with planning meetings, working without supervision and liaising with teachers to devise complementary learning activities. Above all, you’ll need to be resilient and dedicated to the wellbeing of our young people.
With your previous experience in a Teaching Assistant role and your NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, you’ll have up-to-date knowledge of welfare and safeguarding practices within Education. We need you to build great relationships with all our young people, so you can motivate them to do well and be the best that they can be. If you’re emotionally strong and good in a team, we can offer a role with exciting prospects. There are occasional meetings outside school hours, which your attendance will be required.
Eagle House School provides outstanding schooling for Autistic young people with a range of complex educational needs. We like to challenge the stereotypes and statistics around Autism, treating every young person here as an individual. Each young person’s set of needs requires a unique approach. Our teachers are there to channel their individual capabilities into academic success, as part of an holistic and uniquely attentive educational strategy – and all of this from a setting that is truly inspiring to both pupils and teachers.
Our school building dates back to the 18th century and sits in beautiful surroundings including two adventure playgrounds. Add to the fact that we’ve installed amazing new learning spaces, therapy rooms and a great supporting team and it all adds up to a truly uplifting teaching environment.
We know you’re going to do great things as part of our brilliant team. To say thank you, we offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. In return for your hard work, you’ll enjoy a competitive salary, full school holidays (including bank holidays), contributory pension (matched up to 5%), Life Insurance based on two times your annual base salary, comprehensive induction and ongoing training, Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and Cycle to Work Scheme. We’ll also cover the cost of your Enhanced DBS check, which is a compulsory part of our recruitment process.
