Hays Social Care are representing a national training provider who provide leading and specialist training programmes designed to empower the local community.

Your new role
You will be supporting young people aged 16-21 with recognised learning difficulties or disabilities to gain the necessary skills for life and work. This is a part time role, with varied hours depending on the needs of the young people at each specific location. You will be a highly organised individual who will prepare support sessions in advance, adapt training and support materials and assist the Disability Support Services Co-ordinator with monitoring and evidencing progress. Dependent on the young person's course, you may be required to travel with them to placement, providing guidance and support inside and outside of the classroom environment. This role is not only focused on the academic outcomes but also prioritises the personal development and wellbeing of these young people.

What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role you will professionally work within the organisation's guidelines with respect of equal opportunities and health and safety legislation. You will be forward thinking with planning your support and be willing to learn on the job and make the most of resources provided. Act in compliance with all course examination, assessment, and validation requirements. Importantly you will be committed to the programme and the young people that you will be working with as this organisation prides itself on a low turnover of staff and the continuity it provides to the students. You will have 5 GCSES at Grade C or equivalent, and a minimum of one year experience in a similar role supporting people with learning disabilities. You will be flexible and adaptable within the working hours. You will have excellent communication skills and be proficient with Microsoft packages. It is essential you have a sound understanding of statutory services and relevant legislation regarding child protection and safeguarding. It is essential that you have a full UK licence with access to your own vehicle.
