A "Good" school, based in South Manchester, are looking to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant to supporta student with Autistic Spectrum Condition (A.S.C.) in Early Years. The primary school are passionate about maintaining a culture of creativity and love for learning. They highly value well-being and creative learning and are dedicated to providing the very best for all their pupils.

The Main Duties of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Promote a secure learning environment
  • Use Makaton and PECS to encourage communication
  • Provide support to the Class Teacher
  • Monitor and track progress of the supported pupils

To be a successful SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Have a working knowledge of supporting children with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications - although this isn't essential, a positive attitude is really what the school are looking for
  • Relevant SEN training and Certificates - desirable, not essential
  • De-Escalation training (Step Up, Step ON, Team teach, MAPA) would be ideal but are not essential as training can be provided at the us
  • Ultimately motivate children with enthusiasm and imagination
