Job Description: As a Teaching Assistant and Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant in a primary school in the UK, you will play a versatile role in supporting both the general classroom environment and pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. You will assist teachers in delivering high-quality education and provide targeted support to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher with classroom management and lesson preparation.
- Support pupils individually or in small groups with their learning activities.
- Help with the assessment and recording of pupils' progress.
- Prepare and maintain classroom resources and learning materials.
- Support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Adapt learning materials and activities to suit the needs and abilities of each pupil.
- Monitor and record pupils' progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Supervise pupils during breaks and lunchtimes as required.
- Assist with personal care tasks and mobility support if required.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other professionals to support pupil development.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils by following safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
