Join a dedicated team of educators committed to providing exceptional support to students with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) at our school located in DE14, Burton. We are seeking a Level 3 Teaching Assistant with a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children facing challenges, to join us on a fixed-term basis, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

Job Description:
As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant specializing in EBD support, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored assistance to two Year 1 children who present with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will create a supportive and nurturing environment where these students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to the designated Year 1 children with EBD, implementing strategies to manage behaviour and promote emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement individualized behaviour management plans and intervention strategies.
  • Support the academic progress of the students, including assisting with literacy, numeracy, and other areas of the curriculum as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships with the students, building trust, rapport, and a sense of security in the classroom environment.
  • Monitor and record the progress and behaviour of the students, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and contributing to ongoing assessment and review processes.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing updates on student progress and strategies for supporting their child's development at home.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Previous experience working with children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) or similar needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and interventions, with the ability to implement individualised support plans effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting children facing challenges, coupled with a genuine passion for making a difference in their lives.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the role and respond effectively to the needs of the students.
