About the role

The Link Tutor plays a vital role in supporting and monitoring the progress of apprentices enrolled in various apprenticeship programs. You will serve as a key liaison between the business, apprentices, and employers, ensuring effective communication and facilitating successful learning outcomes.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

Academic Support:

  • Provide academic guidance and support to apprentices, helping them navigate their learning journey and achieve their educational goals.
  • Conduct regular progress reviews with apprentices, assessing their performance, identifying areas for improvement, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Assist apprentices in setting and reviewing their learning objectives, ensuring alignment with the requirements of the apprenticeship program.

Employer Collaboration:

  • Foster effective relationships with employers and apprenticeship supervisors, serving as a point of contact for any educational or training-related matters.
  • Collaborate with employers to ensure apprentices receive appropriate on-the-job training, mentoring, and workplace support.
  • Conduct site visits to apprentices' workplaces, evaluating their progress, assessing workplace learning environments, and addressing any concerns or challenges.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure apprenticeship programs comply with regulatory standards, awarding organization requirements, and college policies.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of apprentice progress, achievement, and assessment outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and review of apprenticeship program curriculum, assessments, and delivery methods.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Facilitate effective communication between apprentices, employers, and college staff, ensuring timely exchange of information and addressing any issues or queries.
  • Collaborate with academic staff and curriculum developers to ensure the integration of theoretical learning and practical workplace experience.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and share best practices.

Personal Development:

  • Engage in continuous professional development activities to stay updated on industry trends, teaching methodologies, and regulatory changes related to apprenticeship programs.
  • Reflect on personal performance and seek opportunities for self-improvement, contributing to a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the college.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Education and Experience:

- A relevant bachelor's or master's degree in a related field.

- Experience working in an educational or training environment, preferably with apprenticeship programs.

- Familiar with apprenticeship frameworks, awarding body requirements, & relevant industry standards.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with apprentices, employers, and colleagues.

- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, patience, and the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.

- Active listening skills, ensuring a thorough understanding of apprentice needs and providing appropriate support and guidance.

Organisational and Time Management:

- Excellent organisational and time management skills, capable of managing a caseload of apprentices and meeting deadlines for assessments and reviews.

- Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in record-keeping, data management, and documentation.

Flexibility and Adaptability:

- Able to adapt to changing circumstances, priorities, & demands in a dynamic educational environment.

- Willing to travel to various sites to conduct visits & support apprentices in their learning journey.
